Lightning struck the SIUE campus Saturday during the large thunderstorm that passed through the area, hitting trees in Cougar Village and setting off a fire alarm.
According to SIUE police Lieutenant Kevin Schmoll, the lightning hit a tree and caused a power surge that went to one of the building's furnaces.

It seems that various departments, with Student Life taking the lead, had decided that The Current, award winning student newspaper, was temporarily suspended.

Erin O'Connor, a Western Illinois University theater-acting major and dance minor, was crowned the 2009 Miss Illinois June 20 at the Miss Illinois Pageant in St. Charles. She will advance to the Miss America Pageant, which will be televised live on Jan. 30, 2010 on TLC.
